I know there was a lot of worry and consternation about what project Atari was working on awhile back. Many people were worried that they were creating a D&D game that was going to be direct competition for Dungeons and Dragons Online. Well it turns out they were working on a Dungeons and Dragons game but it is not an MMO and shouldn’t be any direct competition to Dungeons and Dragons Online.
If you are like me and can’t get enough D&D you might want to check out Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale. Daggerdale was released on consoles first but has now been released and is available for the PC gamer.
Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale is the newest edition to the long D&D game line-up. Daggerdale is based off the new 4e rule set and the lore used in this new addition. Daggerdale is based in the very popular Forgotten Realm setting in and around Daggerdale. This new D&D game is an action-RPG that can be played solo or co-op of up to four more players.
So if you want one of those gamers that likes to get every D&D fix you can get, give Daggerdale a go! This could be a great opportunity to get to know the 4e system or the new lore of Forgotten Realms. I have enjoyed the new 4e game mechanics for the most part. Just as many I have a few issues with it, but overall I think it has really balanced the classes. I have always had the feeling like the 4e rule set has a very “video game like” feel to it. I am looking forward to seeing how this rule set actually translates into a video game. DDO has snuck a few 4e like things into the mix but Daggerdale is 100% 4e.

Restore order to the Dalelands by unlocking the secrets of the Mines of Tethyamar, defeating the evil within the treacherous Tower of the Void, leading to the final confrontation with Rezlus himself.

Gamers use intuitive pick-up-and-play combat combined with a wide assortment of weapons, feats and powers to defeat a wide range of deadly enemies. Players can level their character, unlocking three tiers of powers, and an extensive list of feats to create a truly unique character. As the player levels, they can add additional attribute points to their ability scores, further enhancing the performance of the character. The action-packed RPG gameplay allows for solo and co-op play for up to four players.
I’m a little disapointed by this game truth be told :( Can’t Roll a character, only online multiplayer supported, buggy as hell…. Dungeon Siege 3 and Dragons Dogma are what I’m waiting on now :D
