I’m going to assume that you have read the two previous articles on Smuggler’s Rest and Crystal Cove so you are familiar with how and where you will need to go to get all of the ingredients for Dungeons and Dragons Online 5th Anniversary crafting.
So what are you to do with all these ingredients? Make some great new loot, that’s what! There are lots of great new items you can craft. All of these items are much like the Mabar Event and have five different levels of the same item (4,8,12,16,20).
They have also gone one step further by giving us the ability to upgrade all of these items up to two times. You can make a truly daunting number of new items and upgrade those items. So which ones are you going to make first?
I can’t tell you what to make but I will tell you how to make them. Characters are so unique that an item that works well for one doesn’t work at all for another! So I will leave the judgment up to you on what you will make. This crafting guide is designed to help you get there.
There are several components to getting these items made. It will involve different parts of the event to get the pieces you’ll need to fully upgrade these items.
The items and collectibles are level based, so I would suggest playing the character you want to outfit, or another in the same level range as the item you want to create.
Crystal Cove Gem Drops per Level

Step 1 – Create Base Item
The base item can be obtained by collecting doubloons on the Island of Smugglers Rest and obtaining gems off rares or in Crystal Cove. Once you have enough you can trade them in. Be sure you select the correct level you want to craft.

Step 2 – Upgrade Base Item to Tier 1
Once you have your base item, you will need to focus on Crystal Cove, getting as many gems as you can. Should you fall short, don’t worry, you can trade in other gems and Doubloons for the ingredients you need.

Level Up Your Items
Dungeons and Dragons Online has heard our pleas and has introduced more factors in crafting so that our items grow with us. The set of items introduced for the 5th Anniversary Event enable you to actually level up your weapon. This means you can take an 8th level weapon and upgrade it to a 12th level weapon!
WARNING: It is possible doing this might remove any upgrades you did to the level 8 weapon.
Item Level Upgrade Cost
Lvl Up | Copper | Silver | Obsidian | Amethyst | Rubie | Emerald |
4 to 8 | 350 | 150 | 20 | |||
8 to 12 | 400 | 200 | 25 | |||
12 to 16 | 600 | 300 | 30 | |||
16 to 20 | 750 | 400 | 35 |
Trade Ins
It is very unlikely you will get the exact things you need to make your dream item. This time around Dungeons and Dragons Online has given you the option to trade in unwanted items for the ones you want. This should really help you to get the right ingredients to make the items you want.
Gem Trade-In
You can turn in your gems to get a stacks of Doubloons. The higher level the gem the more Doubloons you will receive.
Lvl | Doubloons Returned |
4 | 30 Copper Doubloons, 15 Silver Doubloons, and 5 Gold Doubloons. |
8 | 30 Copper Doubloons, 15 Silver Doubloons, and 5 Gold Doubloons. |
12 | 60 Copper Doubloons, 30 Silver Doubloons, and 15 Gold Doubloons. |
16 | 120 Copper Doubloons, 60 Silver Doubloons, and 30 Gold Doubloons. |
20 | 200 Copper Doubloons, 100 Silver Doubloons, and 50 Gold Doubloons. |
You can also trade in the gems you don’t want for some that you do want. Turn in Gems of the same tier to get the other gem of that tier on a 3 to 1 basis. Example: Three Diamonds for 1 Emerald
Consumables
You can also make some new consumables and other fun toys to play with. There are a few that that could be a lot of fun if you have some Doubloons to spare. There are also a couple things I would suggest everyone try to get such as the Greater Dowsing Rod.

If you are looking to maximize your gems you get try to have one person clear the whole zone of the mobs in each of the caverns. This is a great way to clean up on gems!
