I thought I would write up a quick run down of the Pirate’s Hats themselves. They are actually a pretty big part of the Live Event and should be used if you want to make the most out of your time in Smugglers Rest and Crystal Cove.
If you made a character prior to the live event that character will have a Paaaaaaaaaaarty Invitation in their inventory. Take that to Euphonia’s Hat Box and turn it in. Depending on how old that character is and a few other factors dictates which hat you will receive. The older the character, if it is TR’d or a founder, the better chance for the top tier hat. If you do not get the hat you want do not worry, you can also turn in Doubloons for them.
Pirate Hat’s
Hat Name | Tier | Copper | Silver | Gold |
Swabb’s Kerchief | 1 | 500 | 250 | 125 |
Freebooter’s Bandana | 2 | 1000 | 500 | 250 |
Corsair’s Skullcap | 3 | 1500 | 750 | 375 |
Captain’s Chapeau | 4 | 2000 | 1000 | 500 |
Admiral’s Tricorne | 5 | 2500 | 1250 | 625 |
Dread Admiral’s Tricorne | 5 | 3000 | 1500 | 750 |
The pirate hats come in a random color of in Purple, Magenta, Blue, Green, Orange, Red and Yellow. If you do not like the color, you can dye them if you would like. The Named Colors you will need something extra from the DDO Store. They might also drop them on the island but I am not sure. They all cost 500 Copper Doubloons to get.
Pirate Hate Dye Colors
- Black as My Heart Dye * DDO Store has Extra Ingredient Needed
- Envious Green Dye * DDO Store has Extra Ingredient Needed
- Polly Pink Dye * DDO Store has Extra Ingredient Needed
- Blood and Guts Red Dye * DDO Store has Extra Ingredient Needed
- Dark Blue Dye
- Dark Green Dye
- Light Blue-Green Dye
- Dark Brown Dye
- Orange Dye
- Dark Green Dye
- Light Green Dye
- Purple Dye
- Bright Yellow Dye
- Remove Color * Removes Current Dye
They all have three different kinds of additions that you can add to them.
- Enchantable: Crystal Rush: This hat can be enchanted to bestow one of various benefits to nearby kobolds in Crystal Cove.
- Enchantable: Adventuring Bonus: This hat can be enchanted to bestow one of carious benefits useful in general adventuring. Adventuring effects may change the minimum level of this item.
- Enchantable: Skilled Seaman: This hat can be enchanted to grant a bonus to one skill. You can have one skill bonus on a hat at a time, but can replace it with a different choice. Skill Effects may change the minimum level of this item.
Most of the enchantments follow a structured path. You craft the first tier version of that item first. You then craft the next tier. To get to the top tier enchantments you will have to craft each step sequentially. Be sure to have the previous Tier item in the crafting box while you are making them.
The first of the enchantments that you can add are for the 5th Anniversary Live Event itself. Some effect the island but most effect the kobolds inside of Crystal Cove through an aura you will radiate. There are some great bonus’s so look through them and choose what will work best for you.
Tip: DDM’s Realm would suggest making the Haste hats so those kobolds pick up their feet! If you have the time and energy I would also make a separate Doubloon boosting hat to wear when you are out on the island or in a quest with humanoids. Then switch to your Crystal Cove hat when you are in the quest. This will help you maximize your time in both places.

Remember that these enchantments will increase the minimum level of the item so be sure to keep that in mind when making them. Just like the other enchantments you must step them up, one at a time.

There you have it. I hope you get the hat that you want and that you do not overlook the importance and power these hats can have to make good use of your time spent in the Live Event. I hope you are all able to craft the items you want and have a ton of fun doing it. Thanks Turbine for a very cool event with lots of great gear!

This should be up to date now. Enjoy!
I did want to suggest that I have found my favorite hat to be:
Haste II (Don’t want to waste shards ;p)
Seeker +6
Intimidate +15
This is a totally awesome hat to go with the Greater Bold Trinket. It also is great to replace the Minos which makes me happy! I am tired of wearing that thing. Hehe
Good to see this event live again! Make sure to pimp out your hat. If you have the stuff for it make a whole pile of them. :) They are great TR items.
It’s back yet again! Wahoo!
The Scallawag’s Luck I isn’t bugged – it’s not listed because even the cheapest bandana comes with it. Great guide!
Thanks! I hope you are making the most of this go around of the cove.
