Korriban is the starting planet in Star Wars TOR for both the Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor. Both of their stories start them off in the center area of the map. This planet is a home to the Sith Academy. Korriban for 1 to 10th level.
This guide is a quick overview of the area with some spoilers and tips to help you make the most out of your time on Korriban. If you are an explorer and like the thrill of wandering around by yourself and discovering things on your own, DO NOT read this guide until you have finished your exploration. Then come back and see if there is anything you missed or if there is something you cannot find.
If you find something that you think should be included in this planetary guide, please post below. Star Wars TOR has a great set of in-game tools to help you explore and find the standard things like vendors, bind points, trainers, etc. This guide will focus on the main goals and points of interest that Star Wars TOR’s internal game tools don’t tell you about, or very important topics you don’t want to miss.
Tomb of Ajunta Pall
You will start off your exploration of Korriban by being dropped off in the center of the map. You are given a quick mission in the Tomb of Ajunta Pall. Head into the tomb, complete your mission then head to the Sith Academy.
On your way in, you’ll get your first bonus quest: killing the small K’lor’slugs. Finish this mission before you head into the tomb. There is a Medical Revive point here as well as a Medical Droid. Once you are done, sell what little loot you have to the droid so you can afford to get some training inside the Tomb of Ajunta Pall.
There is a trainer at the beginning of the tomb at the bottom of the stairs. Make sure to train up so you can get your first abilities, they will really help you in here.
Once you get to the bottom of the stairs, there is an NPC that will give you a slug killing quest. Pick it up and head deeper in.
Keep an eye out for a corpse on the floor. There’s a datapad from which you can retrieve another quest. It is a bounty for looters and the artifacts they have recovered. The artifacts can be collected on the 2nd level near the end, so don’t spend too much time messing with the looters at the entrance looking for them.
When in the Tomb of Ajunta Pall, head down to the room that holds the Brood Mother. She might have some nice low level loot for you. She can be found at -174, -74. This is a room off to the side that no quests take you to, so try not to miss it.
Once you have completed your quest, continue through the Tomb of Ajunta Pall and you will appear back in the Valley of the Dark Lords, right in front of the Sith Academy on the western side of the map.
Valley of the Dark Lords
The Valley of the Dark Lords encompasses the Sith Academy, several tombs, and the Market.
Go a bit north of the stairs leading into the Sith Academy and speak to the Taxi Droid to unlock this travel location. Next, use the Binding Station at the base of the stairs to set this as a return point for Fast Travel.
Grab any quests you see as you move around the Valley. They will pop up at different times depending on your level and at what point you are in your class quest.
One last note: you will see an elevator on both the south and north sides of the Valley of the Dark Lords. Security Boxes spawn up there every once in a while. Shoot on up there as you go by for some free loot.
If you are eager to get your datacrons, you can make the trip up to the Shuttle and get one now. Head out onto the balcony that overlooks the valley and look to the east. You will see the +2 Endurance datacron just off the wall.
The Market
You will find a handful of vendors in the Market. There is nothing PVP-related here because you cannot PVP until you are 10th level. By then you should be off planet or close to it.
Sell and repair your items. Go to the armor vendor and try to find something to fill your empty armor slots. If you can’t afford armor now, keep this in mind and fill those slots with something as soon as possible.
Sith Academy
Inside the Sith Academy, you will find your trainers. When you head up to get training, make sure that you go to the second floor balcony in the training halls and pick up the lore holocrons that are up there. There is one in each training room.
The Sith Academy does have a small cantina that is tucked away in the far west of the first floor. Make sure you stop by here and bind if nothing else. There is a vendor here as well. Try to log out here when you’re done playing, so when you come back, you’ll have an XP boost for a while.
Collect all the quests you can find in the Sith Academy and then head out. Your first set of missions is out in the wilds so go to the Taxi Service for a quick ride out there.
Now it is time to head out into the wilds.
Wilds Outpost
You will be dropped off on the far eastern side of the map. You shouldn’t spend much time here. Grab what quests you can find and head off down the road.
You may have seen a Datacron on your way in. I will let you know how to get that in a little while.
Take out the beasts as you make your way down the road. You’ll find the Wilds Laboratory before too long.
Wilds Laboratory
Make sure to take the elevator at the back of the Wilds Laboratory and discover the travel and bind points. They may come in handy later and could keep you from having to make a long run.
There are a few quests here. Make sure to pick those up and head off towards the Lower Wilds. You may have lots to do here if you have collected all the quests.
Lower Wilds
As you move into the Lower Wilds, you should see a holopad over on some crates. Grab the quest and start working away on all the insane troopers out there.
Veer east as you enter the Lower Wilds. You should see a path of sorts that heads off to the south east. Follow that to the +2 Willpower Datacron you spotted as you flew into the area.
Turn around and head back down into the Lower Wilds. Head due west and kill targets and anything else you may need to do for any quests.
On the far western part of the Lower Wilds you can find Maniacal Commander Tynes at the end of the path. Take out this boss for a chance at some good loot. He isn’t too hard and doesn’t have any friends around.
If you have completed the quest objectives out in the Lower Wilds, head into the tombs to complete your other quest.
Tomb of Marka Ragnos
Head into the Tomb of Marka Ragnos. Take care of your quests as you move further in.
Keep an eye out for the additional bonus quests you will get in here, and slaughter the Acolyte Deserters.
Once you are done with all of your quests here, use your fast travel to head out to the Wilds Laboratory and turn in your quests. From there take the taxi back, turn in quests, repair and sell and get ready for the next leg of Korriban.
It’s time to head back to the Valley of the Dark Lords.
Tomb of Naga Sadow
There are a couple of NPC’s right at the entrance and just inside the Tomb of Naga Sadow. Talk to them for a few extra quests you can do while you are in this area.
Work through this tomb as you did the other, completing quests as you go.
If you happen to be an Inquisitor and are on your quests for Khem, you need to know about a “secret area”. I would investigate this after you get him. After you’ve gotten him, you’ll need to find a way to jump to the area below. In the north west corner, there is a bit of an overhang that will allow you to drop about halfway down. Jump down there, rest up, and then finish your jump down. Follow the stairs back into the ruins and take a left. You will run into a large room with a K’lok’slug Glutton, a Champion Boss. This is the perfect time to test out your new buddy Khem! Send him in and watch him work. Make sure you help him out because the K’lok’slug Glutton is no slouch! Hopefully you can get a good drop from this mean bug. If you want to camp him for a few minutes, it may be worth it. He should pop back up in 3-5 minutes. Kill him a few times, enjoy some nice quality loot, then head on out of the dungeon.
Once you are done with everything in this tomb, head out to the entrance and talk to the quest NPC’s if you need too.
Now it is time to turn in quests, sell, repair, and level up for the last leg of Korriban!
Tomb of Tulak Hord
The first thing you want to do is head up to the Shuttle and use the Mission Board right by the shuttle. You will get a (+2 HEROIC) quest. This means it is recommended that at least 2 characters of the quest’s level work together to complete the quest. If you wish to give real group fighting and teaming up a go, now is a great time to start. Just outside the Tomb of Tulak Hord is another NPC that will give you another quest about The Red Machine, another (+2 HEROIC). If you are more of a soloer, you can save (+2 HEROIC) areas for the last thing you do on the planet before you leave. It’s up to you, but the chances of you getting some nice gear upgrades on the island are good and it would be a shame to wait for them. Some can be as good as or better than your class gear that you receive.
Make sure to get the quest just inside the tomb, it is easy to miss.
The Tomb of Tulak Hord is really a series of different tombs and areas. There is basically one tomb that leads you into an open area somewhere in the mountains. This is called the Ruined Atrium.
In the Ruined Atrium is the Slave Rebellion Leader in the dead center of this area. Take him out on your way through for a chance at better loot.
There is a Red Matrix Shard in this area as well. Sweep around the outside near the south of this area and you will see a hole in the ground. In this hole is the datacron. It’s hard to see until you are right up on it so keep scouring the area.
There are two sub-tombs that fork off from this open area. Your class will determine which one you have quests for. Each of them holds one of the (+2 HEROIC) quests.
The Red Machine is a very fast quest but can be tough. Make sure you and your group are ready before you activate the Red Machine in the middle of the room. Once it is activated, you will have three waves of progressively nasty bosses come charging out at you with no breaks in between. Reserve your energy and healing stims until you get to the last one if possible. It is easy to hit the first two too hard and find yourself in need for the final, super nasty boss, the K’lor’slug Bloodqueen.
Armed and Dangerous is easier as you can rest and recover between each fight. Also, there are a lot of yellow named droids. Yellow named targets will only attack you if they are attacked first. This quest allows you to pace yourself and take your time unlike The Red Machine.
Once you are done with these, your class quests and every other quest you might have had in this area, head back to the Sith Academy and turn in and level up. You should be ready to head off planet now.
That’s about all there is to the new player planet of Korriban for Imperial Sith Warriors and Sith Inquisitors. The eastern part of the map seems neglected since you spend so much of your time running back and forth through the eastern half. The desert atmosphere is nice though, and really lends itself to tromping through the tombs of the Dark Lords. This area has a good Star Wars feel to it but you also get hints of many fantasy areas with the ancient tombs and dungeon crawling.
See you soon on Dromund Kaas!
Play smarter, not harder!
